Can you tell that I don't always have the time or energy to create a daily blog? Was your first clue the fact that I haven't blogged since February? Thought so.
I had planned to post photos from the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee next week, but we aren't going after all. Don's computer has been sick off-and-on for about a month, so he's playing catch-up and doesn't need to be away from home for a week. Since I have breathing problems it takes me some time to acclimate to the Mammoth altitude, so we also can't just pop up there for a couple of days.
Recently I've seen a couple of blogs by e-friends that are just a daily photo of something from their day. I think I'll try that. Because one thing I do is photograph something every day. Knitting, spinning, birds, flowers, there's always something. So, I'll give it a try and see how long I can focus. You already know my attention span is about this <--> long.
So ... I'll start today with an explanation. Ravelry (an online knitting/crochet/spinning community) has a Tour de Fleece every year that coincides with Tour de France, and involves spinning fiber into yarn. I have a spinning wheel and a couple of drop spindles, and about a half-ton of various wool fibers dyed in pretty colors. During the time that Tour de France is going, spinners are encouraged to do something spinning-related every day, except the two days Tour de France rests. On the day of the most challenging ride, spinners are asked to do something with their spinning that is challenging to them.
Today is a regular riding/spinning day. My photo today is from Day 7 of Tour de Fleece. For a few months I have been working off-and-on on an alpaca fleece. Fiber right off the animal. I have two of them. One has been washed and occasionally I card and spin some of it (the other is "resting" in my closet). Today I started using a new "drum carder" and carded a lot of it and spun some of it. That's my photo for today.

Hey, welcome back! I just proof-read Spinning in the Old Way for an e-book. Maybe some day I'll try spinning. But it won't be anytime soon. I KNOW I'll need more than a book!
