A Message from Robert Ringwald

We received this e-mail the other day from Bob Ringwald:

From: Robert Ringwald

Subject: Watch and Listen to the Bohem Jazz Festival from Hungary Online This Weekend

Our own Vince Bartels will be there. I have appeared at this festival twice. It is really a nice, friendly, well-done and very professional Jazz Festival. Some of you may remember that Tamas Ittzes brought his band from Hungary for our 2008 Festival. They were a big hit. Please sign up and help Tamas keep this festival alive.

Dear friends, we desperately need your help in getting this message to as many people as possible.

Thanks a lot, Tamas

The 19th International Bohem Ragtime & Jazz Festival featuring top American and European musicians will be broadcast live on the internet at http://www.jazzfestivalmarketing.com/live-e.html March 26-28, 2010.

You can view the whole event and even download the concerts later on for only a few bucks. With your subscription you'll not only have the opportunity to be part of a great event of 15 hours of music but also help to save Hungary's premier classic jazz festival.

Bohem Festival OnLine: 3 days, 5 concerts, 15 hours of music live, delivered right into your home from Kecskemet, Hungary. http://www.jazzfestivalmarketing.com/live-e.html

Join in and be at least virtually with us in Kecskemet, Hungary on the next weekend! (March 26-28, 2010) Last year our internet broadcast had 30,000 visitors! Don't miss it this year! And let your friends know about it, too!

Please, visit http://www.jazzfestivalmarketing.com/  to watch Hungary's premier jazz festival and to help to save it at the same time. We'd need about 2,000-2,500 online visitors to break even. (Last year's broadcast was free.)

Sincerely,
Tamas Ittzes
"Dr. Bohem"

PS.: As far as I know, this is still the only jazz festival in the world that is being broadcast through the Internet. So we have a second world debut with this technology.

Inspiration

Inspired by my new Plurk friend KnittinGeisha, it's time to restart the blog.

Nothing much has been happening since we returned from Monterey, except the April issue of The American Rag is on the way to your mailbox if you're a subscriber. If you haven't subscribed . . . why not???

The artist profile for April is Andrew Barrett, who is a terrific pianist and son of master trombonist Dan Barrett. I remember when Andrew started his musicianship as a youngster, playing a washboard. It was rumored that Dan told him if he did well with the washboard, he could have a set of drums. When we next saw him, several years later, he was a featured artist in a Ragtime program in Pacific Grove, CA. This young man will go far in the music world!

On The Home Front

Since the last blog entry I've finished another "Everything Bag," this one for darling daughter Angie. There's one more to be finished, but I'm bored with them now and have started a smaller bag of a different design.

The Aestlight shawlette is finished, but I think I've already posted that photo and one of the beginnings of the Brandywine shawl.

The girlie socks (WendyKnits' design "Traditional Gansey" from her "Socks from the Toe Up" book) are done! I used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn for these. It's amazing how it softened up with a soak in WoolWash. These are for darling granddaughter Jessica.

The Loopy Ewe Sock Club socks have been started. The pattern was designed by Wendy, so I'm familiar with the directions and they should be quick and easy.

The Evenstar shawl is the only other project going right now and it's going very slowly. The pattern is lovely, and not difficult, but I haven't used lace yarn before -- someone described it as knitting with cobwebs -- and I keep getting the stitch count off and having to frog it back to a lifeline. So, I'm taking this one very slowly.

Check out KnittinGeisha's blog. I'll add her to the blog list on the right. And I'll try to be better about posting. No, really! I will!
